LETS and Natour: ecotourism and nature interpretation
Co-funded by Erasmus+, the NATOUR is a project that works in a network to create a graduate program in Ecotourism and Nature Guiding. Within a cooperation between the European Union and Latin America, it has partners in seven countries: Spain, Portugal, Germany, Bulgaria, Colombia, Chile and Brazil
LETS is part of the Natour Brasil network, made up of UnB and UFRRJ.
Among the LETS - Natour actions, we organized in April 2021, a lecture with our partner from Spain, Evarist March Sarlat .
Evarist, in addition to teaching at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, is an ethnobotanist, founder and nature guide of the NaturalWalks in Barcelona. His company is dedicated to bringing a new philosophy of tourism to one of the most prominent cities in world tourism. His tours have won international awards in the specialty of gastronomy/wine and he still does consulting work for world-renowned restaurants, such as Celler de San Roca.
In his visits, the Catalan specialist seeks to build an image of the territory that connects emblematic places with nature, the population, the architecture, the gastronomy and the travelers themselves, who participate in the stories and work with their imagination. Evarist understands that " An unforgettable experience is one that wakes up all our senses " and that even provokes us to perceive small details of life. By observing subtleties of nature, it is possible to compose the narrative ( storytelling ) of a unique tourist product, he adds.
The theme of the Meeting was: How do guides improve the quality of tourism and conservation in the 21st century: interpret to conserve or conserve to interpret? Below you can see the video:
