New LETS Coordination Team
The challenge of leading a research group, composed of professionals with notoriety in the fields of Tourism and Sustainability, goes through several fronts: stimulating the involvement of all; ensure diversity, respect and compliance with democratic and ethical principles; lead strategic actions; strengthen the spirit of collectivity; build participatory planning processes; to welcome ideas, opinions and suggestions; to be committed to quality assurance in the work developed; support its members in times of greatest need; maintain serenity and engagement, even in the face of the adversities of the contemporary world; to promote unity and continued collaboration; among many others.
For more than 15 years, Helena Costa has managed, with affection and commitment, to encompass these and many other particularities in the leadership of LETS. There was no lack, at any time, of delivery, professionalism, dedication and affection. His proposal to collectively develop a cohesive, productive, tender and welcoming group came to fruition.
Today, following new professional challenges, now at the head of Embratur's "Strategic Planning Advisory", Helena leaves the LETS Coordination team, but, of course, remaining as a researcher-member (the group could not exist without her!).
With the unconditional support of the group's founder, Elimar Nascimento, the LETS Coordination team redefined itself, as an innovative way to broaden its views and practices. The leadership of the Laboratory - previously led by Helena Costa and João Tasso - gains two researchers recognized for their competence and lovingness: Iara Brasileiro and David Bouças .
Iara Brasileiro holds a PhD in Sciences from the University of São Paulo (USP), with a degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Brasília (UnB). He coordinated the Tourism and Sustainability Center, and the Graduate Courses Lato Sensu , of the Center of Excellence in Tourism (CET/UnB). In LETS since its inception.
David Bouças holds a PhD in Business Administration and a Master's Degree in Sustainable Development from the University of Brasília (UnB), as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Tourism from the Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA). At LETS since 2007.
Both researchers with recognized performance in the themes of Tourism and Sustainability, through their work as professors (undergraduate and graduate), coordinators of research and intervention projects, among others.
Therefore, the new LETS Coordination team is currently composed of: João Tasso (Leader), David Bouças (Vice-Leader) and Iara Brasileiro (Vice-Leader) .
Certainly, there will be many challenges in this new stage. However, LETS already has the fundamental pieces to continue on the path of hope and construction of a more just, ethical, solidary and sustainable world: its members.
Thank you very much, Helena Costa!
Welcome, Iara and David!
