Ariádne Bittencourt will launch, through the LETS Travessias Seal, his book: Governance and Public Policies in Tourism.

The book is a version of the PhD thesis in Territory, Risk and Public Policies, entitled Governance and Public Policies in the Tourism Sector in Brasília/DF - supervised by Professor José Manuel Oliveira Mendes (University of Coimbra/PT) and Professor Carlos Manuel Martins Costa (University of Aveiro/PT). The work was presented to the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research of the University of Coimbra/Portugal in association with the Universities of Lisbon and Aveiro, defended on July 12, 2023, and was approved with Distinction and Praise.
The book has a Preface by Prof. Dr. Iara Brasileiro (UnB) and an Afterword by Dr. José Manuel Oliveira Mendes.
According to the preface, "Anyone who reads this work — and I suggest that all people who are interested in tourism and its organization do so — will understand what I am saying: this is not "another" text about management, governance and governance. Younger people would say that this is not a reading "for the weak". The content is dense. The analyses, solid and concrete. It is necessary to have the breath to read it, understand it and extract theoretical and, above all, practical lessons from it, in the daily and constant challenge of planning, formulating, organizing and executing public policies."
For Dr. José Manuel (University of Coimbra), "the conclusions obtained allow us to analytically structure all future research on public policies and their degree of effectiveness and efficiency. And this is because the positive factors that induce good practices were clearly established, such as the quality and intrinsic social conditions of leaders and the capacity for proactivity and mobilization of these same leaders. Furthermore, the public/private sector permeability, which many authors assume as tending to be negative, can be virtuous if anchored in common principles and dynamics, enhancing sustained knowledge of the existing strategic frameworks and the instruments to be used. One of the last positive factors is related to the accountability and transparent assumption of the strategies and processes undertaken".
The Travessias Collection proposes to disseminate appropriate scientific literature, free of charge and freely, to the public of researchers in Tourism. Their covers, carefully thought out, portray incredible Brazilian artists.
